Director of Grants and Compliance

SALARY
$80,000 - $90,000 Annually, Exempt

SUMMARY

Peace Over Violence is a non-profit organization committed to building healthy relationships, families, and communities free from sexual domestic and interpersonal violence. Peace Over Violence is interested in hiring a skillful writer and analytical thinker to be the Director of Grants and Compliance. This staff will be an exempt position and work as a member of the organization’s leadership and development team under the supervision of the Executive Director. The Director of Grants and Compliance is responsible for research, writing, and submitting grant proposals, as well as ensuring integration of awards into the organization and fulfilling compliance requirements for grant awards with both private and public funders. The Director of Grants and Compliance is expected to cultivate relationships with foundations and government entities; design program goals, strategies, and budgets; write/submit government and foundation grants in conjunction with program needs and staff requirements; communicate with POV program staff teams to ensure comprehensive understanding of awards and compliance needs of funders. An interest and the capacity to proactively engage with management on grants and deadlines provide information needed.   

DUTIES

Fund Development 

  • Compiles and assesses annual funding strategy, including setting goals and identifying potential resources, timeline, and organizational needs regarding grants.

  • Researches and assesses funding opportunities for the organization.

  • Participates as a member of organization development team.

  • Engages with funders to build relationships and opportunities for funding.

Grant Development

  • Designs, writes, submits grant proposals for both private and government grants.

  • Writes, submits, tracks LOIs

  • Works with the appropriate staff teams to plan, budget, write and submit proposals.

  • Coordinates with fiscal staff to create budgets for grant submission.

  • Designs scope of work, logic models, evaluation strategy or other supporting documents for grants and program

  • Maintains registration and current passwords for administration of grants.gov, SAM, cyber grant sites, etc.

  • Supervises grant writing consultants, as necessary.

Grants Compliance, Contracts, and Administration

  • Maintains records and files of grant application submissions (pre award)

  • Reviews contracts, maintains documentation for all grant awards and contract addendum.

  • Ensures contract compliance to meet funder requirements, including reporting timelines, tracking of fiscal and program report submissions.

  • Writes, tracks, and submits foundation reports.

  • Orients project staff teams post-grant awards to ensure thorough communication of objectives, activities, deliverables of grant awards.

  • Participates in agency budgeting process.

  • Oversight and tracking of all State and Federal registrations.

  • Collaborate with Fiscal dept. on budgets, audits and other common financial documents requested by funders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social work, or related field

  • Three to five years of experience in writing and securing grants.

  • Ability to think and write strategically about programs and services.

  • In-depth understanding of both intervention and prevention methods regarding interpersonal violence issues

  • Able to research foundation and government funding resources

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Excellent writing, research and speaking skills

  • Knowledge of foundation and government funding agencies

  • Knowledge of budgeting procedures and methodology

  • Ability to supervise administrative and fiscal staff and consultants

  • Thorough understanding of the legal, administrative, and operational needs of non-profit organizations

  • Ability to work on deadline and stay highly organized.

  • Excellent attention to detail and systems

  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people including clients, volunteers, and staff in a non-judgmental Ability to multitask without loss of focus.

  • Demonstrate initiative and professionalism; ability to work independently & maintain workload.

  • Automobile needed with a valid driver’s license and insurance.

  • Ability to pass Department of Justice background check
