Job Description

Position Summary

The Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for all audio and visual needs for meetings and events. This position is responsible for the set up and the breakdown of all audio, visual, and computer equipment requested by guests and internal staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor inventory and order equipment as necessary to maintain enough stock for daily operations and guest needs.
  • Assist guests with AV equipment, computer software and hardware, and phone related issues.
  • Comply at all times with AWCC standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient conference center operations.
  • Work in a manner consistent with the Core Values of AWCC.
  • Perform setups and troubleshoot the following equipment:
    • Tripod and fast fold screen
    • Video monitor, television, VCR, DVD
    • Video Camera
    • Multiple Microphones with house or portable sound systems
    • Computer
    • LCD Projector
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose computer network problems
    • 16 plus channel mixing board with XLR.1/4, mini, RCA, BNC
    • Video Conference Units
    • Conference Telephones
    • Analog phones
    • Data connections, HSIA (high speed internet access)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to quickly absorb new information and understand new technologies.
  • Effectively prioritize and complete multiple projects
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Maintain a warm, friendly, professional demeanor and strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Communicate effectively with guests and all team members, demonstrating strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

Education and Experience:

  • Audio Visual Technician experience preferred.
  • Computer skills required with moderate skill levels in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Computer Network knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience working with the following equipment: LCD projectors, built in and portable sound systems, high speed internet access, and Windows applications is preferred.
  • Experience in a hospitality environment is required.

The employee must occasionally lift, move, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee must frequently use computer and other special operating equipment.
