Job Description

Job Title: Accounts Manager – Building Materials

Location: Miami, FL (Remote; candidate must reside in Miami)

Compensation: $120,000 – $160,000 base salary, plus bonus and signing bonus

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Preferred Accounts Manager to drive growth and deepen client relationships within our building materials division. In this highly visible role, you will immerse yourself in our client base, mastering trade-specific contracting and bidding processes, complex stakeholder dynamics, and strategic market approaches. Your expertise will help boost new business and expand existing partnerships through close collaboration with our sales, product management, marketing, account management, and technical teams.

Working from your home office in Miami, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team, with occasional domestic travel required to support client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Industry Leadership: Establish yourself as a trusted industry expert and valued partner for our clients.

  • Business Development: Design and execute strategic plans to identify, nurture, and convert prospective accounts into long-term Preferred Account partnerships.

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain multi-layered relationships with key decision makers within existing accounts to secure increased business share.

  • Sales Support: Collaborate closely with the sales team and certified contractor partners to drive product positioning and preference.

  • Client Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact, delivering tailored solutions that align with the client’s value chain and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher (advanced degree preferred).
  • Industry Experience:
  • 5-7 years in the roofing/construction sector, with in-depth technical expertise in building envelope products/systems and commercial construction processes.
  • Proven understanding of complex stakeholder relationships within the industry.
  • Analytical & Communication Skills:
  • Strong ability to assess product lines, competitor offerings, and market positioning.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem resolution, and straightforward communication skills.
  • Sales & Business Development:
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in business development or national account-level sales within roofing/construction, commercial real estate, or industrial sales.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and strategize around complex selling scenarios.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Capability to climb stairs and ladders, occasionally access rooftops, lift up to 50 lbs, and withstand varying environmental conditions alongside extended periods of walking.
  • Travel Commitment: Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically, primarily within the Miami area.
  • Residency: Must reside in the Miami, FL area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Connections: Previous experience working with national/regional commercial building owners, roofing consultants, and specifiers.
  • Advanced Sales Expertise: Demonstrated success in new business development using strategic, multi-influencer sales techniques.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Market Insight: Strong familiarity with commercial roofing competitor product lines and pricing strategies.
  • Professional Affiliations: Active or prior participation in organizations such as BOMA, NAIOP, RCI, DBIA, CSI, or similar professional groups is a plus.
